In 1882, the Hartley family arrived in San Diego. Then in 1894 my great grandfather, James Monroe Hartley, purchase a 40 acre parcel which he developed into a lemon ranch. In 1904, great uncle John Hartley, with his brother-in-law William Stevens, developed the lemon ranch into lots and the first subdivision, named Hartley's North Park, was born. I was first licensed to sell real estate in 1976 while attending San Diego State University where I graduated with a degree in Business Administration, emphasis on Marketing, I worked at Century 21 Hill'n'Dale for two years. Then I worked for Uni Cal Mortgage for another two years as a loan officer until interest rates climbed to 17% (not a typo!) After that I worked in the title insurance business and for Pacific Telephone and AT&T and in August of 1983, opened Paul Hartley Realty in Point Loma. I served 12 years on the Board of the Point Loma-Ocean Beach Realty Association, including two years as President, and in 2001 went to work at Prudential California Realty, and then Pacific Sotheby's International Realty. Once again I went out on my own with Paul Hartley Realty where I work mainly with past clients and referrals. I would be delighted to speak with you about your real estate needs... just reach out.
